According to the National Survey on Giving, Volunteering
and Participating (NSGVP), nine in ten (91%) Canadians aged 15 and over
made financial or in-kind donations to charitable and nonprofit organizations
during a study period in 1999-2000.
Although most Canadians give, the bulk of charitable dollars are contributed
by a very small percentage of the population. According to NSGVP results,
twenty percent of donors account for 82% of the total value of donations made
to charity.
