Q. What is CharityVillage Campus and who runs it?
A. CharityVillage Campus is a great way for you to build your skills in a friendly, practical way that meets your needs and availability. We've designed a series of courses that you can take from your home or office computer. They are self-paced, meaning that you can take them anytime you like, whether it's at your desk between 9 and 5 or after you've put the kids to bed at night.
CharityVillage Campus is run by CharityVillage.com in conjunction with Judi Angel, FAHP. Judi is the Chief Learning Officer and lead developer on all of our custom courses.
We've also joined with Serebra Learning Corporation to support the e-commerce and course delivery parts of the Campus. Serebra also has an excellent third-party course catalogue that you can access for additional courses in technology, organization management, and personal development.
Q. Who is Judi Angel?
A. Judi Angel, FAHP is CharityVillage Campus's Chief Learning Officer. Read more about her.
Q. Who is Serebra Learning Corporation?
A. Serebra Learning Corporation operates the e-commerce and course delivery parts of CharityVillage Campus. They are an 18-year-old Vancouver-based company that offers technology based training to companies and individuals. Serebra also has an excellent third-party course catalogue that you can access for additional courses in technology, organization management, and personal development.
Q. Why does the e-commerce site look so different than the rest of CharityVillage.com?
A. The site where you register for courses and launch them is hosted by Serebra Learning Corporation. To keep the cost of our courses to a minimum, we've partnered with Serebra for our e-commerce needs and use one of their standard templates. Rather than spend lots of time and money to make their site look more like ours, we decided to focus on giving your the best possible courses in a safe and secure environment, and at a reasonable price.
Q. Are you going to stop offering free articles and resources now?
A. No way! If you've been a long-time visitor to CharityVillage.com, you know that we've always prided ourselves on delivering excellent quality and timely editorial to all of our visitors for free. We'll always continue to do that through our NewsWeek section, Research Library, and other great resources.
Part of what prompted us to create CharityVillage Campus is that many of you called us and sent e-mails asking for more in-depth information in certain subjects. The courses we're offering through CharityVillage Campus give you an opportunity to dig a little deeper into a subject. We'll still be keeping the CharityVillage spirit in each course though; they're all designed to help you learn practical skills that you can put to use today.

Q. What kinds of courses do you offer?
A. Through CharityVillage Campus you can access two types of courses: CharityVillage Campus custom courses, and related third-party courses. All custom courses are developed specifically for CharityVillage Campus with nonprofit audiences in mind. They are designed by nonprofit practitioners who are leaders in their areas of interest. They are created by people who have been where you are, and who want to share their learning with you.
We also offer a series of third-party courses through Serebra Learning Corporation. These courses have not been developed specifically for nonprofit audiences, but they are generic enough to be applicable to many of you in your daily work. We think they're a terrific way to gain skills in areas like conflict resolution, communication, and technology.

A. To sign up for a course using a PIN code, visit our e-commerce site to register. We've also developed a handy step-by-step tutorial that you can follow to learn more.
Q. How do the courses work?
A. Each course is self-paced, meaning that you can start or stop it anytime you like. Most courses take 1-4 hours to complete. CharityVillage Campus custom courses are all 3-month licenses, so you can log in and out as often as you like during the three months you have access to the course.
As part of each course, you will find optional self-tests that you can complete along the way to make sure that you are retaining what you're learning. As well, you will find numerous downloadable resources that you can keep even after you have finished the course. These downloadable resources are in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat PDF format, so you can choose the format that's most suitable for you.
At the end of most courses, you'll find an optional final quiz that will review the key learning objectives of the course. If you pass with a mark of 70% or greater, you'll be able to download a certificate of completion.
Q. Who teaches the courses?
A. The courses are all self-directed, meaning that there is no live instructor. You follow the course at your won pace. All of our courses have been written by experts in their subject, so you are getting quality information and resources, but learning at the pace that suits you best.
Q. If the courses only take a few hours, why do I get access for three months?
A. Most of the CharityVillage Campus courses can be completed in 2-3 hours or less if you take the course all at once. We give you access to the course for 90 days so that you can progress at your own pace and log back in to review the lessons and resources as often as you'd like. We know that it's nice to be able to refer back to your learning materials or refresh your understanding of something while you're putting the ideas to use in your daily work.
Q. How can I tell if a course is suitable for my skill level?
A. Most of our courses are aimed at entry level users with little or no experience in the subject. If there are any specific prerequisites for a course, we will mention them in the course description.
Q. Can I print out parts of the course for reference?
