Over 1,000 Tim Horton's locations Canada-wide participated in Camp Day Canada, an annual event in support of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation. Operating summer camps in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Alberta and Quebec, the Foundation has provided over 40,000 camping experiences for deserving children from communities across the country.
"Children chosen to attend the camps are given the added thrill of travelling to a part of Canada outside their home region, with all expenses paid by the Foundation. And with our fourth summer camp now in operation, we are able to provide over 4,000 children with a wonderful camping experience through either our full time sessions our overnight programs" stated Don Schroeder, President of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation.
Last year store owners from 800 outlets raised more than $850,000 by donating all monies from coffee sales during a 24 hour period. This year, with the opening of 200 new locations, a record $1,050,000. was raised. The June 7th event featured local celebrities and dignitaries pouring coffee and greeting customers.
"This adds a lot of excitement for both the staff and customers at many of our stores, and we are grateful for the high profile this event receives within each community" added Schroeder. Camp Day Canada, the largest Tim Horton fundraiser, provides a corporate and community focus and serves as a unifying factor. The Foundation receives funding solely from donations by individual store owners, the parent company, The TDL Group Ltd., from suppliers and through public donations. Coin boxes located year round on counters produce over $800,000 alone.
