Let's get going...

From Main Street, click on the Advertisers link in "Login" section.

If you aren't registered yet, please register as an advertiser first.

1. Enter your email address.

2. Enter your password.

3. Click the "Log In" button.

If you've forgotten your password, click the "Forgot Password?" link.

Create an Event Listing

From the "Listings" tab on your desk, click Create "Event Listing."

Language

1. Select the language for your listing.

Note: If you regularly create listings in the same language, select the language you prefer, then click the orange "Save as default" menu and click the "Save as default setting" link. Next time you create a listing, we'll have saved your favourite selection.

2. Click "Next".

Listing Options Tab: Event Information

The "Listing Options" tab is broken into 4 sections.

- Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*)
- Use the "Save as default" menus to remember your favourite settings for next time.

1. Event Title: what's the event called?

2. Organization Name: this defaults to the organization name in your account, but you can change it if needed.

3. Event Type: What kind of event are you hosting?

- Fundraising: events with the purpose of raising money for a Canadian nonprofit or charity, where all of the net proceeds from the event benefit the nonprofit or charity (e.g. golf tournaments, walks/runs, auctions, dinners)
- Community: events put on by a Canadian nonprofit for their community (e.g. festivals, awareness workshops, free tax clinics)
- Professional Development: events that help to build the skills of people involved in Canada's nonprofit sector (e.g. conferences, workshops, seminars).

Listing Options Tab: Event Timing (one-day event)

Event timing: How often does the event occur? Please select either the "One Time" radio button, or the "Recurs" radio button.

(This tutorial covers one-time events. To learn how to create recurring events, see the tutorial "How to create a listing for a recurring event")

For one-day events:

1. Click the "One time" radio button.

2. Select "On one day" from the drop-down menu

3. Enter the event date (MM/DD/YYYY), or select the date from the drop-down calendar.

Listing Options Tab: Event Timing (multi-day event)

For an event that occurs over several days (e.g. 3-day seminar or a 2-day fundraising walk):

1. Click the "One time" radio button.

2. Select "Over several days" from the drop-down menu

3. "From": enter the event start date (MM/DD/YYYY), or select the date from the drop-down calendar.
**Note: The "From" date should be the date that the event begins, NOT the date that you would like to publish the event listing.

4. "To": enter the event end date (MM/DD/YYYY), or select the date from the drop-down calendar.

5. Can people join after the first day (e.g. a drop-in community festival) or must they attend the entire event (e.g. a 4-day management seminar)? If people can join after the event start date, check the "People can join after the first day" box.

Listing Options Tab: Logos

If you have a logo on file, add it to your listings by checking the checkbox to the left of the logo image.

If you want to upload a new logo, click the "Upload new Logo" button and follow the instructions from there.

Scroll down to the next section.

Listing Options Tab: Event Location

1. Region: Where will the event take place? Select the region(s) where the event happens. DO NOT select regions where you want to promote your event. If the event is virtual (web-based), select "Flexible". If the event is international, select "International" and enter city/country information in the "Location Detail" field.

2. Location Postal Code: Enter the postal code of the location where the event occurs. It defaults to your office postal code. If the event takes place in multiple locations, separate the postal codes by comma. If the event is virtual, enter H0H 0H0.

4. Click the "Next" button.

Event Description and Contact Information

1. Enter the event description and contact information
Copy and paste or type your event description into the form. Use the edit tools to update the look of your description.

Don't forget to add contact information for how interested attendees should reach you here.

2. Once you've filled in the form, click the "Next" button.

Confirm that you've added contact information

We don't stream in contact information automatically, so please make sure that you include application instructions (email, web, postal, or fax address) in the listing description. We'll remind you about it once before you preview your listing.

If you've forgotten to include contact info, click "No, go back".

If you have included contact info, click "Yes, preview".

Listing Preview

The listing preview shows exactly how your ad will look when it goes live on the site. Please review it carefully to make sure that you have everything correct (mistyped fax numbers and email addresses are the most common mistake).

If you are posting a bilingual listing, you will be able to preview the French version by clicking on the "Switch Language" link at the top of the page.

If you need to fix anything, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Back", "Edit Listing Info" or "Edit Listing Description" buttons.

If you want to save the listing and submit it later, click the "Publish Later" button to save it to your Desk. You can submit it anytime from your desk.

If the listing looks good, click the "Publish Now" button.

Yes, publish now

We don't review volunteer or event listings before they are published for users to see.

Click "Yes, publish now" to publish your listing to the live site.

If you want to save and publish it later, click "Cancel".

Order Confirmation

From the Order Confirmation page, you can:

• Create another volunteer opportunity
• Go back to your Desk
• See your listing on the site

Just click the link that suits you and that's all there is to it!
