Position Summary: 

The Development Coordinator will serve as a key member of the Development Team and will report into the Fund Development Manager. He/she will coordinate many of Variety’s third party events in addition to supporting Variety’s signature events including Mobility Day, Club Heartly and Radiothons, supporting smaller corporate partnerships and peer to peer fundraising. This individual will be responsible for growing third party revenue and building relationships with community members.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate & executes Variety’s third party events & peer to peer fundraising
  • Supports Variety families with fundraising through Club Heartly
  • Manages third party portfolio including peer to peer fundraising and corporate partners under $2500
  • Outreach to families
  • Seeks out and develops new fundraising opportunities and relationships
  • Coordinates Gold and Silver panel recruitment and stewardship for Telethon; works with panelist to encourage peer to peer fundraising
  • Applies for community level sponsorship for events
  • Recruit, train, support and ensure appropriate recognition for event volunteers
  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, sponsors, donors and volunteers as needed
  • Coordinates Variety’s POS & Gold Heart Pin program

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of event and or fundraising experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write sponsorship applications
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong administration skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects
  • A resourceful self-starter who exhibits strong leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge is an asset
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs
  • Must have a valid B.C. Driver’s License
  • Must be able to travel within BC for events
  • Flexible schedule as travel, evening and weekend work will be required.

Internal:

Daily interaction with the Director of Development, Events Manager, Manager of Donor Relations and Manager of Fund Development

External:

Maintain and build positive relationships with donors, sponsors, third-party fundraising event organizers, committees, service clubs, corporate partners & community leaders.
