The Institute of Public Administration ( IPAC)  is a dynamic organization, which is known for excellence in research, publications, conferences, knowledge networks and as a source of public administration and public policy expertise in Canada and around the world.   IPAC‘s members include public decision - makers from across Canada, academics, students, and organizations interested in public administration.  IPAC is an equal opportunity employer and is currently seeking a bilingual, dynamic individual to take on the role of Lead, Membership and Partners.  The Lead, Membership and Partners contributes to the overall success of the organization by performing a range of relationship building and outreach duties in an enthusiastic, results oriented manner.  Relationship management, sponsorship development, analytical skills, ability to meet deadlines and effective communications are key areas for success in this position.

The Lead, Membership and Partners provides overall leadership, guidance and advice on the development and management of relationships with the Institute’s government and corporate partners, members and regional groups across Canada.  In collaboration with other team members, the Lead also supports outreach efforts through the use of communication tools (social media, online presence etc.)

The Lead, Membership and Partners plays a key role in the future development of IPAC, particularly through developing and raising resources for programs and projects and supporting outreach to our many members, and partners through relationship building, communications,  events, awards, aligning networks and other initiatives.  Working collaboratively with the Regional Group Council and IPAC’s 19 Regional Groups, the Lead, Membership and Partners is responsible for the value proposition for individual members and institutional partners.  The position also manages overall messagingfor IPAC (regional groups, membership, corporate partners, advertising partners, etc.) and  manages and edits content for monthly membership newsletters.

The ideal candidate will perform various and complex tasks, work well under pressure and sometimes changing deadlines, with strong attention to detail.  Results-oriented and strategic, the candidate will approach the position with professionalism, commitment and a passion for an organization that supports the public sector. With an ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders, the successful candidate will be a team player who recognizes accountability.

The candidate is a dynamic, self-starter and has:

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • 2-5 years of membership building experience preferably in not-for-profit sector.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to set priorities in a multi-task environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to work to deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Result oriented, ability to work independently and in team environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Constant Contact is preferred.
