CCFC is currently recruiting for the following position:  Manager, Finance.

Reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration, the position is responsible for: leading staff, overseeing processes and executing activities to ensure the timely and accurate recording of receivables, payables and general accounting transactions; producing timely and accurate financial statements and management reports; managing disbursements made to partner, country offices, vendors and others; overseeing year-end activities, tax filings and external audit support activities.

The position is also responsible for assisting the Director with: maintaining processes and procedures and ensuring adherence to appropriate internal controls; planning, budgeting and forecasting; investment and treasury activities; ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance.

This role includes, but not limited to:

  1. Oversee the processing, recording and reporting of all financial transactions. Ensure adequate records are maintained. Manage the production of timely and accurate monthly and quarter financial reports; assist with Audit and Risk Committee and Board of Directors presentation material production as needed.
  2. Lead and/or support the creation of monthly management reports and other finance-related documents that support leadership oversight and decision-making.
  3. Optimize accounting processes and leverage technology for internal control and workflow efficiency.
  4. Effectively comply with GAAP for non-profits.
  5. Ensure the internal control procedures and practices are maintained across all CCFC offices.
  6. Oversee disbursements, ensuring these adhere to accepted practices and organizational policies.
  7. Conduct and apply research and analysis in the development of CCFC policies.
  8. Manage the production of income tax receipts, working with internal stakeholders, as needed, to complete this effectively and efficiently.
  9. Promptly and accurately file required documents with the CRA ensure the organization is up-to-date on new legislation and guidelines Support and coach finance staff across the accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, tax, audit support and report production functions. Effectively partner with finance and other staff across the organization.
  10. Manage support activities around year-end and special audits with Canadian external auditors
  11. Comply with all CCFC policies and procedures.
  12. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a related discipline (Business, Commerce, etc.);
  • Professional Canadian accounting designation – CPA (formerly CA/CGA/CMA);
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership capacity in finance;
  • Experience with a multi-location environment is an asset; work experience within a non-profit environment an asset;
  • Track record of leading a diverse team of accounting professionals to achieve optimum performance;
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting rules, practices, principles and controls;
  • History of developing and updating financial policies and related procedures supporting appropriate internal controls;
  • Good understanding of registered charity tax and legal requirements;
  • Thorough understanding of Fund Accounting and the Deferral Method of not-for-profit accounting standards;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, review and optimize internal processes and controls;
  • Proven experience in problem analysis and decision making;
  • Superior set of communication skills;
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively within internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong teamwork skills – with a proven ability to work effectively with peers, subordinates and superiors in a variety of situations – often with very tight timelines;
  • Computer skills – intermediate to advanced MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), financial software experience with customized databases an asset;
  • Ability to speak and/or write in either French or Spanish will be considered an asset;
