Y.I.E.L.D. Program Facilitator


The Y.I.E.L.D. (Youths’ Initiative and Excellence with LD’s) is a unique program designed to support LD youth/newcomer youth to gain valuable skills and increase civic engagement opportunities that will benefit them in life and work while making a difference in their community.


Program Facilitator specific:

Program Facilitators are responsible for promoting volunteerism within youth communities, facilitating workshops, presentations and risk management training for youth. This position includes supervising LD youth participants, it also includes development and exploration volunteer placement opportunities for youth. In this role, they are also liaising with other Program Facilitators and/or Program Manager/Program Coordinator.

  • Reporting on monthly attendance, budget, safety checks and evaluations
  • Attending monthly team lead meetings
  • All program workers are involved in program planning, facilitation, and behaviour management.


  • A degree or diploma in B.Ed./Child and/or Youth Social Work or a combination of relevant academic degree and professional experience
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and newcomer youth with an ability to engage, empower and educate
  • Understanding of the academic and social issues facing youth with Learning Disabilities
  • Experience facilitating workshops, presentations for youth
  • Ability to co-create community service projects with youth
  • Ability to design and develop program curricula and promotional materials
  • Experience in outreach, community development and/or marketing of program(s) and services
  • Strong understanding of social media including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
  • Experience developing and promoting content on social media and websites
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently within a team setting
  • First Aid/CPR Certifications are an asset
  • Successful police reference clearance with VPS or willing to complete

Reporting: Program Manager/Program Coordinator 
Hours: 12 hours per week 
Start Date: ASAP
