About Trial Lawyers Association of BC

Founded in 1980, TLABC is a not‐for‐profit society with a proud history and a current voluntary membership base of 1,500+ legal professionals leading diverse practices throughout the province. Our members represent individuals rather than corporations, governments or other large entities. Practice areas include family, employment and immigration law, wills and estates, criminal defence and personal injury litigation. Members are united with the goals of protecting the rights of individuals, ensuring access to the courts, preserving the jury system and promoting the highest standards in legal education.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Membership and Education, the Education Manager is responsible for ensuring that TLABC’s portfolio of learning and development programs are executed to the highest possible standards. The successful candidate thrives on rigid deadlines, juggling multiple tasks, working independently AND in a collaborative team environment, and in delivering excellent client service.

Key responsibilities

Seminars and webinars

  • Support Director in production of 8-12 full day seminars/conferences and 15-20 webinars per year
  • Coordinate event logistics, including setting up webinars via appropriate apps
  • Work with Director to support conference faculty and sponsors – prior to and on day of event
  • Design event promotional material – e.g. print brochure and digital marketing collateral
  • Work with Director to develop marketing campaign
  • Execute marketing campaign
  • Coordinate registration process
  • Lead event execution: venue set up, assist sponsors with set-up, keep program on time, assist with AV for speakers, monitor webcast, etc.

Special Events

  • Work with Director to plan events
  • Coordinate event logistics
  • Design event promotional material – e.g. digital marketing collateral, print brochure, program
  • Work with Director to develop marketing campaign
  • Execute marketing campaign
  • Coordinate registration process
  • Lead execution of on-site event logistics


  • Maintain the education page and all related sub-pages of the TLABC website
  • Using event management database (MemberCentral) create entry for each event: seminar, webinar, meeting, etc.
  • Use social media channels for marketing/promotion of education events: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn
  • Work with Director of Membership and Education and Director of Relationship Marketing (PAC) to grow social media presence

Qualifications required

  • Post-secondary degree in relevant field
  • Three to five years’ experience working in an events role – in the Development field would be a bonus

Desired skills and attributes

  • Digitally savvy … e-marketing and promotion, social media, content management, CRM/database management
  • Some design experience (preferably InDesign) would be ideal
  • You know how to set up a projector beyond plugging it in
  • Very detail-focused and organized – your high standards are reflected in your work
  • Motivated
  • Respects and adheres to timelines and deadlines
  • Flexible – able to shift gears quickly
  • Personable, positive, friendly

Role and Compensation

This is a full-time, permanent role.

TLABC offers a professional work environment. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
