Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for directing and developing all aspects of Dress for Success Vancouver’s client programming, including Dressing Services, the growth and management of the Career Centre and professional suite of programs including the Professional Women’s Group (PWG) and the Ambassador program. 

The Program Director will be responsible for the strategic planning of the organization’s continuum of programming and will oversee continued program delivery with excellence, evaluate the opportunities for strategic program realignment and growth. In a leadership capacity as Manager of the programming staff, the Program Director will foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration to empower volunteers and staff colleagues to act with a high degree of integrity when providing services and assistance to the women we serve.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

Program Strategy & Delivery

  • Drive and direct the strategy and design, planning, and implementation of all Programs and initiatives, including client outreach and engagement initiatives, and the Professional Women’s Group program & Ambassador Program.
  • Develop, monitor, track, and verify Key Progress Indicators for all programs and programming initiatives, ensuring that metrics are in alignment with annual and strategic goals determined at the start of each calendar year by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
  • Source and develop relevant strategies and resources to scale impact and reach of programs and initiatives.
  • Implement and review standards and procedures for programs to achieve excellence in programming, programming alignment and growth in impact.
  • Identify and develop annual program budgets for all programs for proposal to the Executive Director; monitor and track program expenses on a monthly basis, ensuring that results are in alignment with board approved budget and KPIs.
  • Use DSFV systems and databases to evaluate program impact & experience to inform reporting, community partners and stakeholders when needed. 


Work in collaboration with program staff team to establish and maintain strategic and productive working relationships and communications with referral agencies, social and community service organizations, initiate and foster relationships with community groups and stakeholders to increase the awareness and use of services and effectiveness of program continuum.

People Management - Staff & Volunteer

Collaborate with staff, volunteer leads and/or volunteer stakeholders to:

  • Manage the program staff team of four
  • Work with program staff to recruit, select, and train Career Specialist volunteers, Workshop Committee volunteers, Administrative and/or Special Program Assistant volunteers, and Dressing Service Volunteers 
  • Strategically align, monitor, and evaluate the performance of direct reports and volunteer committees
  • Coordinate, with the volunteer management lead(s) the optimization of the volunteer journey and experience, volunteer engagement and connections, volunteer recognition activities and/or events


  • Ensure administrative and substantive back-up support and cross training between program staff to ensure coverage in a small organization
  • Direct the planning, promotion, execution and delivery of Career Centre workshops and special events; attend as required
  • Participate in the staff leadership team and support the Executive Director as required.
