Wellspring is seeking an independent professional to provide one-to-one case consultation for the Money Matters program at Wellspring’s Downtown Toronto Centre and by telephone, and to lead an online psychoeducational program that helps cancer patients explore key issues related to transitioning back to work after cancer treatment.

The Case Consultant will help people navigate the maze of government and income replacement programs when too sick to work, explore options for medication coverage, provide guidance and support to people transitioning back to work, and link participants to appropriate community resources.   As a Returning to Work program leader, the Consultant will lead a 6-week online psychoeducational program that helps people explore the key issues related to transitioning back to work after cancer treatment.  Sessions include weekly program content and facilitation of group discussion.

The ideal consultant will bring the following skills:

  • Relevant educational background such as Social Work, Vocational Counselling or Adult Education, preferably at the Masters level
  • Extensive experience with intake, assessment and management of ongoing caseloads
  • Familiarity with income replacement programs, such as Employment Insurance, CPP Disability, ODSP and Long Term Disability benefits
  • Knowledge of workplace issues such as accommodation, graduated return to work and exiting workplace benefits, such as Long Term Disability Benefits
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for both one-on-one contact with members, working with other professionals and leading group programs

This is an independent, fee-for-service consultancy with negotiable hours which will vary.

If you are an independent consultant with the above qualifications who would like to support Wellspring’s mission of helping individuals and families cope with cancer and its side effects, please submit your resume and cover letter to the attention of: Ilene Shiller, Manager of Financial and Workplace Programs.
