Vantage Point transforms not-for-profit organizations by providing practical learning opportunities, facilitation and advice to the not-for-profit sector in British Columbia. We are launching a 2-year project to expand our programs and services into Nanaimo and Prince George. In addition, we anticipate growing our reach throughout BC through a number of new initiatives.

The Provincial Outreach Coordinator is a new, full-time position at Vantage Point with many opportunities for growth. It is currently a 2-year contract, with hope that it will be a self-funded program before that period is complete.

The Provincial Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the tasks and activities to build our relationships with not-for-profit organizations, consultants, funders and capacity-builders in two communities in BC. Working under the direction of the Director of Capacity Development, and closely with the program delivery team, the role will be responsible for managing records, developing materials, communicating with key stakeholders, coordinating events and actively supporting the design and delivery of Vantage Point’s services in those communities. The role will also work closely with the Evaluation Coordinator to develop and implement innovative community mapping and evaluation tools to measure the impact of the project on the ‘not-for-profit ecology’ in those communities.



Staff Liaison

  • Act as a liaison between Vantage Point (VP) staff and the not-for-profit sector outside Metro Vancouver
  • Represent the interests of the sector across BC in VP planning and operations
  • Work with staff members to coordinate VP programs and services outside Metro Vancouver

Community Asset Mapping

  • In collaboration with the VP team, coordinate the design, implementation, analysis and coordination of surveys, interviews and other research that identifies key stakeholders and current strengths of the ‘target’ community
  • Research the sector in those communities
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings with key stakeholders
  • Record data in Salesforce and other VP information systems

Scheduling and Events

  • Coordinate a calendar of activities for the VP team in relation to programs, services and other activities in communities outside Metro Vancouver
  • In partnership with appropriate team members, provide administrative and coordination of workshops and educational programs offered outside Metro Vancouver
  • Coordinate VP communications, marketing and outreach activities across the province

Member and Stakeholder Engagement (with the Member and Policy Network Coordinator)

  • Coordinate the identification and implementation of appropriate IT to support province-wide community development and engagement
  • Support the involvement of non-Metro Vancouver members in working groups
  • Facilitate the interaction of non-Metro Vancouver members with the Vantage Point team
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across BC, especially in Nanaimo and Prince George
  • Respond to needs and concerns of members and stakeholders outside Metro Vancouver

Facilitation and Community Engagement

  • Facilitate community and group dialogue when appropriate
  • Manage data, records and outcomes of community and stakeholder meetings
  • Support other team members in designing and facilitating community and educational programs outside the Metro Vancouver area


To excel in the Provincial Outreach Coordinator role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a non-profit organization (paid or unpaid)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with processes for effective community engagement
  • Experience with the not-for-profit environment, as employee, consultant or volunteer
  • Strong relationship-building skills, particularly the ability to engage others
  • Proven experience in the strategic use of social media as community development
  • Well-organized with strong time-management skills
  • Self-starter and high capacity to work independently, but also have a highly collaborative work ethic
  • Proven active listening skills and enjoy supporting people and their organizations to overcome challenges
  • Aptitude for technology, including online engagement tools, Salesforce CRM, Mailchimp and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Personal commitment to ongoing learning and delivering work with excellence

This is a full-time temporary position (one-year contract) based on an annual salary of $45k - $47.5k depending on experience and capacity.
