AREA MANAGER – Toronto Area

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 230 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 27 full-day early learning and child care centres.

THE POSITION INVOLVES…

 The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:

  • Develop and manage multiple Extended Day Kindergarten, School Age Child Care Programs, Early Learning and Child Care Centres and /or EarlyON programs in the Toronto Area
  • Hire, place and supervise area staff
  • Build strong and effective relationships with area staff, school personnel, Toronto Children’s Services, the Ministry of Education advisors, parents and children enrolled in PLASP programs

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…

  • A degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education (must be RECE) and five (5) years previous related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, licensing criteria, policies and current issues in the field of child care
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing play based learning and curriculum including How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and Toronto’s Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI)
  • Strong supervisory, budgeting, multitasking and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Exceptional listening skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to problem solve and resolve conflict
  • Ability to act as a team member
  • A Valid Driver’s License and use of a reliable vehicle on a daily basis
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check acceptable to PLASP, dated within the last six months
