Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide a framework for creating a consistent, targeted message in all communication with the Canadian music community, while incorporating the Unison Benevolent Fund mission, vision and values.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing the social media pages across all platforms, included but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube & LinkedIn.
    • Curating content and building editorial calendar
    • Scheduling social media posts
    • Building and maintaining a following and engagement
    • Monitoring social media analytics, Google Analytics, and insights
    • Running paid media campaigns
  • Collaborating with Unison executive, board members, sponsors, and partners to increase social media reach.
  • Developing and maintaining a reputation for informative music community support and health care related content.
  • Writing and distributing press releases.
  • Researching content on health & wellness, mental health, and the music industry for Unison’s website and weekly #SelfCareSunday blog.
  • Working with web developers on maintenance and development of Unison’s website, managing basic content updates (event pages, blogs, header slider updates) with Drupal.
  • Conducting and editing video interviews with artists at music industry conferences/festivals.
  • Maintaining communication contact lists and database records in both MailChimp and eTapestry.
  • Representing Unison both online, via our social media accounts, and in person at conferences and events.
  • Support the Unison team with event execution at Unison Charity Golf Tournaments, Unison Holiday Schmoozefest, Unison Rocks Charity Bonspiel, third-party fundraiser events, and others as required.
  • Additional duties as required.


  • Minimum two years’ experience in communications, social media, and website management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A knack for creative thinking on a tight budget.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of eTapestry an asset.
  • Knowledge of photography and photo/video editing tools an asset.
  • Experience in website maintenance and content management.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for music – especially the Canadian music scene.
  • Excellent time-management and organization skills, and ability to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Self-starter, able to take initiative and work independently, as well as collaboratively.
  • Good problem solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to liaise with wide variety of contacts including artists, musicians, music industry associations, Unison members, board of directors, and sponsors.
