Clergy Support Memorial Church is seeking a motivated individual part time to perform a variety of administrative responsibilities in our Church Office in Kenmore, ON. This role also serves as a public representative of the Church via telephone, email and in direct interface with visitors to the Church Office.

Candidates will need to provide a relevant resume, complete with two letters of reference and will be required to submit a police record check before commencement of employment duties.

This part time person will perform functions in a timely, accurate, organized and confidential manner and will report to chief governing official or in his absence, the assistant chief governing official.

Key Responsibilities

Office Administration

  • Perform a Public Relations role when using telephone, email or direct communication.
  • Prepare reports and other documents as required.
  • Assist in updating websites.
  • Compose or edit newsletters.
  • Create and regularly update social media accounts for the church.
  • Take part in board meetings when required.
  • Review and process donations from members.

Clergy Support

  • Encourage and act as a support person to clergy.
  • Be involved in training clergy and maintaining and expanding the church’s online training system.
  • Organize opportunities for clergy to share their experiences.

Service to Church and Wider Community

  • Be prepared to act always as a positive public representative for the church.
  • Work to grow and maintain the church in the various provinces where it is active, by creating synergy between clergy, encouraging public worship opportunities, investigating opportunities and technologies for distance worship or engaging the public online.

Skills

  • Pastoral or religious knowledge and/or experience preferred.
  • Confident to work independently with a good work ethic.
  • Highly organized, able to “triage” work and people.
  • Proactive-anticipate needs through planning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ideally Bilingual in French and English.
  • Ability to problem solve and work with a variety of personalities.
  • Aptitude for additional training for the role and responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
