JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                     Human Resources Manager

Job Type:                    Full Time  

Department:              Corporate Services

Division:                      Human Resources

Location:                    Oakville, ON (include occasional travel to other offices within 25 km drive)

Hours:                         37.5 hours per week

Purpose

Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Manager is part of the corporate services leadership team and is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership and advice to the management team and staff on all HR related matters.  The Human Resources Manager is also responsible for the provision of a wide-range of operational and generalist HR functions. As a solo Human Resources representative for the organization, the Human Resources Manager will guide senior management to make decisions that are in keeping with legislation and support CMHA Halton in being an employer of choice in the area of mental health and addictions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop company-wide compensation programs and strategy, taking into account  market analysis and organizational fiscal realities
  • Develop HR Strategic Plan for the agency that aligns with the organizational strategic plan
  • Work with other senior management members to determine internal communication strategies for significant organizational changes
  • Plans and provides organizational development strategy, direction, advice and counsel to the CEO
  • Execute human resources programs such as training, innovation, employee recognition, activities and recreational programs in a way that supports internal equity and the organization's competitiveness
  • Contribute to the development of leadership through focused development strategies including talent and performance management
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate human resources strategies, including policies, programs, and procedures to address the organization's human resource requirements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with strategic business partners and key stakeholders
  • Develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations
  • Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations
  • Participate in site and workplace inspections
  • Provide leadership and coaching to managers and employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development
  • Identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices and advertisements, and collect and screen applications
  • Oversee personnel management, including wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies
  • Oversee the orientation/onboarding of new hires and the training of all employees
  • Develop and administer progressive disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures

Qualifications

  • Five to seven years of progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Degree or an advanced degree in a related field
  • CHRL considered an asset
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce Now HR and Payroll considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating strategic and engagement-planning initiatives
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Experience in change management
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
