Job Summary:

The Coordinator, Transportation works as part of a team to deliver, expand and enhance the Transportation program. The Coordinator works closely with the Supervisor and Manager. Main job responsibilities include client ride coordination, service monitoring, trouble-shooting, administrative duties, internal and inter-agency client ride scheduling, coordinating and directing the work of paid and volunteer drivers, coordinating the organization of client transportation needs and establishing logistical schedules for service, statistics and documentation.



  • Coordinates and implements service provision including daily communication with clients, caregivers, internal agency staff/volunteers, inter-agency partners, and referral sources; receives, records and schedules client ride requests to produce logistical schedules for service delivery.
  • Coordinates, directs, and troubleshoots the work of transportation drivers, both paid and volunteer.
  • Participates with internal agency staff (Social Work, Community Dining, Meals-on-Wheels, caregivers) and external sources (program partners and referral sources) for service provision.
  • Administrative tasks including data entry, maintaining computer records, photocopying, filing and responding to telephone inquiries.
  • Assists with the compiling of monthly statistics according to program requirements.
  • Promotes and distributes transportation materials for the program.
  • Assists in the implementation of program evaluation, quality and risk management activities, including reviewing of drivers’ daily circle check forms and arranging for vehicle maintenance as needed
  • Helps to Identify transportation staff/ volunteer training needs.
  • Contributes to the development of departmental standards, policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned.



  • Proven experience working in fast paced, challenging customer services role and/or logistics program
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Flexible; ability to adapt to change
  • Excellent map reading skills and knowledge of city streets
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrates computer skills at an advanced level for the use of the Internet and the following Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates an advanced level for database concepts and structures. Exposure to CIMS (Client Information Management System) and Trapeze databases is an asset
  • Experience working with the frail elderly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
