L’Arche Ottawa is a thriving bilingual community serving the needs of adults with intellectual disabilities in Ottawa and is currently looking for a part-time Development Officer.

Fundraising is essential to L’Arche Ottawa’s ability to live its mission. Much of its operating budget is funded by the government, but additional funds are required to enhance the quality of life of our core members and assistants, and to make a positive impact on the broader Ottawa community.

The Development Officer will be in charge of communications with donors, major gifts, planned giving and bequests; also, of two or three annual events, partnerships with local businesses and the L’Arche Canada Foundation and grant applications.

 

Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Community Leader (Executive Director), the Development Officer will be responsible for:

  • Organizing fundraising events with the support of event committees
  • Managing donor relations through personal and broad communications, and donor appreciation events
  • Submitting applications for qualified grants
  • Participating in and supporting outreach events
  • Communications initiatives (newsletter, website, social media, community campaigns)

Also, the Development Officer will be provided the following support and tools

  • a donor data base
  • administrative and technical support for data base and financial transactions
  • an active and committed fundraising committee

 

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Fundraising experience and willingness to learn and undertake new aspects of fundraising
  • Knowledge and appreciation of L’Arche Mission and Values (or commitment to learn)
  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills

 

Terms of Employment

Part-time (3 days a week)
