ISS Canada is a small agency that opens over 500 cases per year and we are now looking to expand our team of hard working professionals. ISS Canada is looking for a part time social work technician for a 6-month (up to a year) contract that could be renewable.

The Social work technician will play an integral role in our ever increasing case management. The Social Work Technician will be working with the senior staff on providing casework support, research, and some related administrative duties for both our local national clients and our international network member cases.

Status

  • Contract part-time (14-21 hours/week)
  • Flexible hours
  • Will report to the Executive Director and Senior Staff 

Location

  • 1376 Bank Street, Ottawa

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To work closely with senior staff on ongoing case work from both local (Canada) agencies and from global partners)
  • Keep country contact list up to date by confirming contacts/ researching new contacts/.
  • Contact member organisations to request services on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with other national or international organisations pertaining to their specific requests for service;
  • Determine the time frame within which service should be effected on each case and provide for review and follow-up.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between social work agencies in Canada and abroad.
  • Maintain case files and follow agency guidelines for recording.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with agency staff, Canadian government departments, service agencies, member agencies

Desired Qualifications:

  • Social Work Technician degree from accredited college or equivalent
  • Experience working with child protection agency, or client based agency
  • Excellent computer knowledge: Word, Excel, and Internet
  • Responsible, high functioning, independent, professional, polite
  • Criminal and child welfare clearance
  • French/English written and spoken (3rd language an asset)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to organize the work required and to work in a team environment
  • Strong ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Strong problem solving skills

Experience:

  • Child protection or equivalent: 2 years
  • Data management
  • Language:  French/English (MANDATORY)  and Spanish (an asset)
