The government relations specialist (GRS) at Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre is responsible for connecting federal, provincial and municipal political leaders to the organization.

In addition, this includes connecting the organization to Ambassador’s and Consul General’s of foreign nations.

The purpose is to help educate these leaders about the mission and values of FSWC including issues concerning anti-Semitism, Israel, Holocaust education and the educational programs delivered by the organization.

The government relations specialist schedules regular meetings between political leaders and the president and CEO of the organization, organizes events and programs with the aforementioned, looks for opportunities to work with aforementioned, monitors and reports on government proceedings new legislation communication and news that is relevant to the organization, and looks for continued opportunities to push for the mission and mandate of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal. 

The specialist will organize events on Parliament Hill and at Queens Park including for heritage month and Jewish High Holidays. The specialist will also invite political leaders to the various FSWC programs and events. Government relations specialist will also seek out funding opportunities and opportunities for partnership with various governments across the country.

The GRS further works with and cultivates FSWC Task Force which works with political leaders across the spectrum to support and understand FSWC programs and initiatives. 

Success is determined by continued weekly value added in the above mentioned areas and the long-term strategic deployment of relationships. The candidate must possess strong command of and understanding of Jewish community issues.
