Job Title: Registered Nurse (Full Time)

Overview: The registered nurse (RN), working to his/her full scope of practice, provides professional nursing and collaborative care to patients and families of the Academic Family Health Team across the life span and health/illness continuum. Nursing care includes health promotion activities, disease prevention counseling and assisting the client with chronic disease management. Ensuring adherence to FHT policies, and nursing procedures, standards and practices, RNs are able to autonomously meet the nursing care needs of patients whose needs are not well defined/established or are changing. RNs provide clinical support to the physician, clients’ follow-up for education and referrals, immunizations, dressing changes, telephone advice and triage and wound care.   RNs contribute to the education of health care learners. In this position the RN works with 2 experienced family physicians (one of which includes obstetrics in her practice) and is able to focus his/her care on those clinicians' practices.


  •    Bachelor of Science in Nursing with three years clinical experience (preferably in primary care)
  •    License to practice nursing in Ontario through the College Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
  •    Membership in the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario and evidence of liability insurance
  •    Demonstrated advanced patient assessment and triage skills
  •    Demonstrated experience working with seniors an asset
  •    Knowledge of and working experience with computer systems and applications (previous experience with an electronic medical record preferred)
  •    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •    Able to work collaboratively within an interprofessional environment as an active member of the team.
