Overview:

The Event Manager is responsible for sales, development, production and execution of a portfolio of events at Evergreen Brick Works. This individual is an integral part of the event planning and execution team.  Working to exceed client expectations by delivering on Evergreen’s standards while focusing on ethics, professionalism and contribution to Evergreen’s social enterprise profits. The Event Manager will have a primary focus on all social events including weddings.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Respond to Clients’ inquiries and provide timely information on venue availability and event services.
  • Conduct site tours to introduce clients to Evergreen and Evergreen Brick Works.
  • Prepare estimates and agreements in accordance with Evergreen’s products and pricing policies and negotiate to close the sale.

Event planning and execution

  • Oversee all aspects of the planning, execution and guest experience required for events.
  • Liaise with industry partners to ensure clients’ needs are met and budgets are accurate.
  • Organize and lead pre and post event debriefs and meetings with suppliers and staff.
  • Liaise with internal Finance department to ensure proper reconciliation and invoicing.
  • Ensure events are executed in a safe, orderly and disciplined manner in accordance with Evergreen’s policies and Health & Safety standards.

  • Communication. Speak, listen and write in a clear, confident, respectful, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

Reporting relationships:

  • Supervised by: Director of Hospitality & Events
  • Supervises: Casual event support team during events

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in hospitality or event planning management
  • Strong working knowledges of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to understand business processes and workflow
  • Smart Serve certified is required
  • First-aid/CPR and/or Food Handler certification is an asset

Working conditions:

  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment
  • Business/professional dress code

Physical requirements:

  • Some lifting
  • Long period of standing
