Founded in 2005, New Circles Community Services is a community-based agency providing clothing, social programs and employment training for newcomers, refugees and others living on a low income in Toronto. Our services focus on five priority neighborhoods of Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, Victoria Village, Crescent Town and Oakridge. 

New Circles is seeking one full-time (maternity leave contract) Coordinator to provide settlement information and referral services to immigrants and refugees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals to improve the quality of their lives through a coordinated and holistic case management approach to develop personalized settlement plans on and off-site
  • Provide counselling, intake, assessment, referral and follow-up
  • Serve as an ongoing liaison with other agencies
  • Community outreach and engagement
  • Ensure the provision of responsive and effective service delivery
  • Group session design, facilitation and implementation
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to volunteer-led programs and services
  • Actively participate in all required agency meetings
  • Admin duties as required – familiarity with and comfort using various industry standard software (MS-Office, Adobe, etc).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Social Work/related degree OR Community College Diploma in Human Services, Social Justice or Newcomer/Immigrant Services with appropriate experience
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience working with low-income, multi-racial, multi-lingual new comer communities
  • Strong Group Facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work comfortably within a team, under pressure and in a changing environment
  • Good working knowledge of GTA community resources
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, team building and organizational skills
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Second language an asset
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Successful clearance of a criminal record verification

Reports to the The Executive Director

Location: Toronto 

Hours: 37.5 hours, some evenings and weekends
