Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will develop strategies and execute plans to actively cultivate, engage and steward prospects and donors at all levels and leverage key relationships to achieve LAPS’ fundraising goals.  Building on established LAPS fundraising events and activities, the successful proponent will actively pursue, cultivate and steward prospects for major donors while promoting and enhancing the public image of the organization. This position will also be responsible for leadership on all aspects of fundraising initiatives as well as report out on progress to senior management and the LAPS Board of Directors, as required.

Required Qualifications:  

To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years direct and progressive fundraising experience.
  • Post-secondary education or related experience; preferably specializing in fundraising, marketing or communications
  • Ability to develop and cultivate a portfolio of individual, corporate and other donor relationships to establish and grow a major gift portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully execute annual development/giving strategy/plan.
  • Knowledge and experience in prospect development, donor appeals, donor relations and recognition, setting revenue targets and managing expense budgets, and communications/promotional activities.
  • Ability to develop and track of KPIs, including donor-related information and fundraising performance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, verbal communication and listening skills; detail oriented, strong organizational, research and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian charity and donation laws and CRA regulations.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in data entry, records managements and reporting.
  • Self-motivated, high energy, results-oriented with the drive to exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team environment and communicate effectively to achieve goals.
  • Previous experience leading teams to achieve development goals would be an asset.
  • The ability to effectively communicate the mission, vision, and work of the Langley Animal Protection Society to grow annual fundraising revenue.
  • Excellent project-management skills with ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects (multitask) and respond promptly to a variety of requests in a high-paced environment.
  • Exceptional knowledge of non-profit legacy giving, sponsorship, and grant writing.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (including MS Office and other relevant business software )
