Position: Leadership Gifts Officer, Canada
Location: Toronto, Canada
Reports to: Executive Director, Canada
Facing History and Ourselves is an international non-profit organization/NGO that equips educators with the content, skills, and tools to teach middle and high school students about the consequences of racism, antisemitism, and violence. Our Toronto-based office has provided professional development to Canadian teachers since 1981, becoming a Canadian registered charity in 2008.
As communities across Canada become increasingly diverse, educators are asking for tools to promote empathy, respect, and create a safe classroom environment that encourages conversations about difficult issues. Our invaluable partnerships with school board administrators and educators enable us to provide educators with the tools, strategies, and resources for students to explore themes of prejudice, judgment and justice, and civic responsibility.
To expand the work of Facing History across Canada, we are seeking a Leadership Gifts Officer. This position will play an integral role in strategically building the development effort to meet and exceed our ambitious fundraising goals. This position will work with development leadership, Advisory Board members, and other staff to initiate, plan, and manage all of our fundraising efforts, including donor research and cultivation, gift solicitation, stewardship, Advisory Board activities, and fundraising events including our signature spring benefit.
S/he will be responsible for a portfolio of donors with capacity to give gifts of $10,000 and above. S/he will also work collaboratively with our development team to build our pipeline of donors at all levels to ensure a growing stream of revenue, and advance Facing History’s visibility and profile.
