JOB DESCRIPTION

The Event Coordinator will be tasked with proposing and overseeing all event details and specifications from planning to implementation. The event planners will be in charge of recruiting, training and managing all volunteers and applicable event staff.

The event planner will be expected to lead events at all stages and animate The Eglinton Way neighbourhood. The events and activations are intended to address the reduced foot traffic on Eglinton Avenue due to the construction of the Crosstown LRT and encourage local residents and people from around the city to visit our neighbourhood and visit our local businesses. The event planner will also be responsible for creating a narrative for marketing the events.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Post-secondary degree in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Prior event budgeting experience
  • Ability to work irregular hours
  • Detail Oriented
  • Must possess advanced interpersonal skills
  • Superior proofreading skills with strong attention to details
  • Ability to effectively multitask
  • Establishing relationships with vendors and BIA members

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizing facilities including any necessary street closures, BIA member and vendor supplies including tent and table rentals, and buskers, equipment and décor
  • Creating and managing budgets for events
  • Drafting proposals for events to boost engagement with The Eglinton Way
  • Communicating and reporting event details with Board members and staff within The Eglinton Way BIA
  • Recruiting, training, and overseeing (not limited to): Volunteers, Vendors, & Sponsors,
  • Briefing and debriefing event specifications to applicable members
  • Creating all applicable scheduling materials
  • Tracking all event details and reporting on work through Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Act as a liaison for The Eglinton Way BIA and the community
  • Create custom site plans for each event
