Position Title:     Marketing and Communications Specialist, CCRF (six-month contract with full time potential)                                        

Reports To:         Executive Director, CCRF

Position Overview:

The Marketing and Communications Specialist (MCS) is responsible for executing the CCRF communications plan while providing marketing management and administrative support. The successful candidate will have strong writing, interviewing and design skills. He/she will also be comfortable with basic project management and have an interest in a range of fund development activities such as grant submissions and donor campaigns. A good team player who is suited to a self-directed environment, the MCS will frequently liase with Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) staff to manage shared accountabilities including administration, governance, and event support.         

Key Responsibilities:

Communications                                                                                                                        40%

  • Conducts interviews and creates written materials for online publication
  • Edits visual content (photography, video) and provides general design guidance
  • Archives content to support reporting and reuse
  • In coordination with CCA Marketing, overseas social media campaigns with a focus on content quality, timing, frequency and integration with broader campaign objectives
  • Aligns website with key stakeholder content, messaging and branding

Marketing Management                                                                                                              40%

  • Contributes to campaign briefs, work back schedules and other documents as required to support implementation of tactical plans
  • Manages CCRF website for readability, functionality, accessibility and currency of information in coordination with technical support vendor
  • Integrates website with donor management software and completes selected 3rd party software (e.g., Panorama, Grant Advance) training
  • Under the direction of the Ex. Director, implements polices + procedures to support the launch of a research committee
  • Uses analytical tools to report on outbound communications performance
  • Periodically reviews performance and makes recommendations for continuous improvement

Administration                                                                                                                           20%

  • Executes administrative tasks (e.g., hotel bookings, catering, AV, pre-meeting materials, etc.)
  • Produces meeting minutes and distributes/logs information as per board and committee charters
  • Provides general office support (i.e., responds to donor queries and other in-bound communications, monitors tax receipts, etc.)

Qualifications:  

  • Exceptional writing, editing and content development skills
  • Strong marketing management abilities including scheduling, tracking, team management and assessment
  • Experience working with websites and social media (e.g., uploading content, working knowledge of html and WordPress)
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (required) and Microsoft Project (desirable)
  • Experience supporting meetings and events

Education:

  • Business, Science, Marketing or Communications degree or related post-secondary diploma

Experience:

  • 1-2 years marketing management
  • 1-2 years working with websites + social media
  • 3 years + working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Some familiarity with Microsoft Project
  • Some familiarity with fundraising, grant writing and/or donor management

Relevant Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent writing and visual content skills; able to compose reports, articles, commentaries, video stories
  • Ability to support campaigns and administrate related financial and communications materials
  • Self-starter with sound judgement and time management skills who’s willing to take on new challenges
  • Comfortable responding quickly yet collaboratively to media opportunities in coordination with Ex. Director
  • Able to direct small working groups and contribute to team meetings
  • A foundation in science/research would be beneficial
  • Outgoing and ready to engage with stakeholders in various settings
