Reporting to the Executive Director, the Job Developer supports the vision, mission, and values of the Coalition for Persons with Disabilities (CPWD) by securing employment opportunities for the organization’s program participants. They interact with employers to identify and assess suitable positions, using this information to build functional profiles for each position that will be used to match with the appropriate participant.
CPWD has been supporting job seekers and employers since 1985 with its focus on reducing and/or eliminating barriers to employment for persons with disabilities. This is a rewarding work environment, dedicated to ‘out of the box thinking’ and dispelling the myths about accessibility.
The incumbent builds and maintains relationships with employers, learning about their human resources needs, and promoting CPWD clients and educating employers regarding the myths surrounding organizational accessibility. They are accountable for updating the employer and position profile database on a daily basis. As the primary contact for employers, the Job Developer will facilitate the identification and resolution of potential employment barriers between the employer and program participant and make appropriate recommendations and referrals. The incumbent develops and delivers presentations for both individuals and groups regarding CPWD and employment. They organize and participate in job fairs and other career-related events when required. This position requires daily contact with employers with frequent travel required within the organization’s operational areas and will be based out of the Mississauga office at 10 Kingsbridge Garden Circle.
To be considered for this position, a diploma or degree is required in human resources, business, marketing, or a related subject combined with 2-years’ experience in job or career development. Experience in the development of position profiles is essential as are multi-faceted communications skills. Knowledge of, and experience in MS Office suite, and databases is essential. The organization’s focus is on accessibility so experience and/or training in accessibility and disabilities is highly desirable. As the position requires a lot of travel between employer locations, access to a vehicle and a valid Ontario Driver’s licence are required.
