We have an immediate opening for a passionate individual with a proven track record in fundraising, responsible for achieving the legacy giving goals of the Ottawa Humane Society.

The Ottawa Humane Society is a non-profit, community-based organization and a registered charity. We have a volunteer board of directors, drawn from our supporters and the community at large. Since 1888, we have been the leading organization providing a safe haven for sick, injured and homeless animals in Ottawa.

Salary/Wage Range: Commensurate with education and experience

Hours of work: 60 hours biweekly – 18 month maternity leave contract


Professional Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the OHS legacy giving program
  • Develop and maintain relationships with OHS legacy giving clients and prospects
  • Promote legacy giving inside and outside the OHS
  • Assist in the development of legacy giving policies
  • Oversee the development of the OHS legacy giving plans
  • Develop and maintain a network of support for OHS activities
  • Develop written and other materials to support the legacy giving program
  • Manage and coordinate legacy giving resources
  • Supervise and coordinate legacy giving staff, volunteers and contractors
  • Maintain excellent relationships with OHS partners and donors
  • Prepare and deliver written and verbal presentations
  • Be aware of and make use of community resources
  • Provide advice and assistance to other Managers, Directors, the Executive Director, OHS

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A relevant degree or diploma or commensurate experience
  • 2 to 4 years of demonstrated excellent performance in development, preferably planned giving
  • Proven project and other management experience
  • CFRE designation and CAGP membership are assets


  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English are required
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
