Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver’s (BBGV) mission is to enhance children’s social and emotional development by delivering and advocating for the highest quality, prevention-based mentoring programs. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, engagement, and management of volunteers, and implementation of marketing strategies for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver (BBGV) within the Lower Mainland. This role reports directly to the Marketing Officer of Volunteer Engagement but also works closely to develop and refine existing volunteer recruitment strategies. This position would be based out of our Vancouver or Surrey office with the ability to work remotely as well. This role requires consistent travel throughout the Lower Mainland, and you must have access to a vehicle.

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Executes strategic plan for volunteer recruitment within the Lower Mainland (North Vancouver, Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, Tri-Cities)
  • Implements volunteer recruitment strategies (campus, corporate, and community environments)
  • Represents of BBGV at community events, campus fairs, and delivers corporate presentations
  • Promotes and executes corporate engagement strategies for Employee Volunteer Program
  • Tracks and analyses recruitment and marketing efforts against volunteer recruitment targets

Volunteer Management and Engagement

  • Acts as the match liaison for events, media interviews, and promotional initiatives
  • Conducts and maintains research on volunteer trends in the communities

Marketing and Communications

  • Work with Marketing Officer, Volunteer Engagement, to develop the advertising strategy as it relates to volunteer recruitment
  • Work with Marketing team for social media updates as pertains to recruitment efforts for our service area within the Lower Mainland
  • Provides marketing support for volunteer retention, teen program recruitment, and community outreach efforts
  • Other marketing and communications duties as needed for volunteer recruitment

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong strategic planning abilities
  • Strong networking skills and ability to work with targets
  • Ability to coordinate and manage tasks of volunteer groups
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong copywriting and content development skills
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute graphic design projects (Intermediate Level)
  • Demonstrated abilities using Microsoft Office, InDesign/Photoshop, WordPress, email marketing, and social media platforms

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE 

  • Diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum of one year related work experience in marketing and communications and/or a combination of marketing and communications and volunteer engagement or management
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
