This individual will report to the Manager of Development & PR and will act as the lead in supervising and building Aptus’ Fee for Service programs.  This role was created in response to the increase in individualized funding for people who have developmental disabilities to select programming to suit their needs and interests (on a fee for service basis). The Leader of Business Development & Fee for Service will act as an ambassador for Aptus Treatment Centre, reflecting the values of Aptus in their daily role as well as at all outreach opportunities. Key areas of focus will be: assessing the fee for service market and demand; develop program concepts and budgets; outreach, marketing and building participation; supervise, hire and evaluate staff; partner relations; and tracking of participation and feedback.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Business Development

  • Efficiently assess the current supply and cost of Fee for Service programming by researching programs offered by developmental service agencies in the GTA, through web research, including MyCommunityHub.
  • Gather information regarding current system/support gaps and work to develop options that address those gaps
  • Assess current demand for Aptus programming through reviewing past demand data and surveying families on Aptus’ waitlist.
  • Review Aptus’ programming and spaces to develop Fee for Service programming opportunities. With support from the Manager of Development & P.R., consult with each area’s Program Supervisor, as needed, re: Fee for Service opportunities in their area, budget needed to support a program.
  • Create draft program concepts where Aptus could be competitive based on the cost/market/demand/programming analysis.
  • Create budgets with input, as needed, from the Finance Department (e.g., expenses, suggested pricing paid per participant based on their support needs).
  • Provide draft program concepts and budgets to senior management for feedback and/or decisions.
  • Project manage launch of chosen Fee for Service programs.
  • Attract participants and achieving membership revenue goals
  • Identify and develop partnership opportunities with other agencies where it can build Aptus’ Fee for Service programs.
  • Attend trade shows, events and meetings to represent Aptus to participants and prospective participants.
  • Travel to meetings or events, as required; may involve extended travel on occasion
  • Intuitively respond to participant and program feedback to learn how programs can create positive experiences.
  • Consult with Manager of Development & P.R. on the development of any marketing materials.
  • In consultation with Senior Management, create intake forms for each Fee for Service program developed.
  • Reach out to and receive calls from interested families regarding Aptus’ Fee for Service programs.

Fee for Service

  • Register new participants, as needed.
  • Ensure proactive communication on fee for service updates, in conjunction with other departments at Aptus.
  • Assist in developing job descriptions for new Fee for Service programs.
  • Assist Program Supervisor and Professional Support Workers in understanding the support needs and programming expectations of participants registered, based on intake forms and fee for service marketing materials and communication pieces.
  • Track participation figures and program feedback.
  • Manage program budgets for Fee for Service programs, if applicable.
  • Fulfill administrative tasks (e.g., expense claims) in a timely and efficient manner.


  • Provide content for Aptus’ website, social media, and other online opportunities to advertise Fee for Service programming (e.g., MyCommunityHub)
  • Updates Fee for Service contacts for Constant Contact, a newsletter tool

Reporting Relationships

  • No reporting relationships.


  • University degree or college diploma relevant to the position (e.g., Human Services, Project Management, Business Administration, etc.)
  • A minimum of two years in a supervisory, management, program planning, and/or project manager role
  • Experience related to budget oversight/tracking and program evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in taking initiative and achieving results in a related role
  • Strong time management skills
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Solid communication skills (written and interpersonal)
  • Driver’s license (preferred)
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours when needed, e.g., regarding an event
