The Borden Family Resource Centre is a non-profit, charitable, community responsive organization which supports the mission of the Canadian Forces by providing a comprehensive range of support services and resources geared to fostering and enhancing one’s quality of life.  The Borden Family Resource Centre seeks excellence in providing innovative, cost effective community responsive programs and services.

Prevention and Intervention / Family Separation and Reunion Facilitator

The Centre is currently recruiting a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for the provision of client focused, brief intervention and support to individuals experiencing challenging situations.  To be responsible for the coordination and delivery of effective deployment support services.

Qualified applicants will possess the following:

  • Completed Post-Secondary studies (minimum 2 year program) and ability to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers;
  • Crisis Intervention and Counselling Skills training considered an asset;
  • Minimum 2 year relevant experience in working with individuals in crisis/conflict;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English;
  • Knowledge and awareness of client centered brief counselling or similar intervention strategies;
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating support groups and workshops;
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of individuals and families affiliated to the Canadian Forces;
  • Knowledge, awareness and understanding of community/social services and resources;
  • Proficiency in public speaking;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent judgment, initiative and leadership skills;
  • Ability to deal tactfully, courteously and effectively with staff and public;
  • Prepared to work flexible hours and
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificates.
