Overall job purpose

The Marketing Events Manager delivers campaigns, programs and events showcasing the value proposition of the CMA to members and key stakeholders. The incumbent will provide leadership, motivation, direction and support to the team on all marketing event initiatives included but not limited to CMA policy, advocacy and membership activities.

One of the primary functions of this role is the marketing and event lead for the CMA Health Summit. The Manager assumes the project management role for this national signature event, working alongside policy, advocacy and member engagement colleagues. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position leads the development of the conference experience including design, promoting the highest level of participant engagement by leveraging new approaches, innovative programming, and a unique onsite experience. In addition, the Manager develops the conference theme, program, speaker lineup, and the marketing campaign in support of the event. The position requires expertise in project management; audience engagement, conference design and event marketing to ensure this unique national conference captures the interest and attention of members and other leaders engaged in health policy and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

Event design

  • Design the event and the attendee experience to deliver a unique value proposition and objectives;
  • Develop conference program to optimize engagement and mobilization;
  • Make innovative suggestions to enhance the event’s success
  • Showcase the CMA thought leadership in all marquee events;

Engagement and mobilization

  • Execute event program to foster engagement during and post event;
  • Measure attendee satisfaction and identify ways to build on the strength and opportunities identified;
  • Explore engagement opportunities through live webcast or other channels;
  • Leverage technology to augment the onsite experience;

Marketing

  • Research emerging trends in event marketing to ensure leading practices are applied;
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to generate high interest in the Health Summit and other CMA events;
  • Optimize brand opportunity at all CMA events;

Project Management

  • Prepare budgets and ensure adherence
  • Prepare project timeline/critical path and report on progress
  • Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports

Health Summit

  • Work with an interdepartmental working group to execute the Health Summit, leveraging your leadership and project management skills;
  • Lead the marketing campaign to promote the Summit to key audiences;
  • Support the outreach and visibility goals associated with the Health Summit;
  • Develop the Summit budget and monitor expenses against the established budget;
  • Negotiate contracts for speakers and other suppliers associated with the Summit;
  • Develop reports and track progress toward the execution of the conference;
  • Support and ensure coordination of the various work streams associated with the Summit – patient outreach; engagement; program; exhibit hall (Grand Central); political engagement; etc.

Education: University Degree

Experience:

  • 6 – 9 years, including:
    • Experience in event design and marketing
    • Knowledge of the association sector, including physicians and/or health providers
