Building on a 900-year tradition, St. John Ambulance provides first aid, CPR and safety training & products, where proceeds also help fund several charitable community programs, including first aid response services, therapy dog services, youth services, community transfer program and disaster response.

Job Description

Our British Columbia and Yukon Provincial Head Office is seeking someone who is an innovator, entrepreneur and a strategist to be our Fundraising & Community Relations Manager. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a province-wide strategy, identify, establish, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and a role that allows your fund development skills to shine. You will deliver, manage and track a fundraising plan to ensure the organization reaches its annual fundraising target. You will also be responsible for providing reports on various aspects of fundraising initiatives to the Director of Government Relations, Strategic Partnerships and Fundraising, the CEO and members of Senior Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  • Keep up-to-date on current fundraising programs, practices and procedures used in the nonprofit sector and inform the affiliate leadership of items that would benefit SJA;
  • Develop and implement strategies for cultivating a growing community presence and reach through fundraising initiatives, as well as strengthen corporate, community foundations and workplace giving relationships to leverage fundraising initiatives;
  • Community Services “Prospecting” to identify new opportunities for charitable funding and partnerships;
  • Consult with volunteers to lend expertise and to support consistency in their applications for community-based grants and funding opportunities;
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; specialization in fundraising would be an asset;
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience fundraising with individuals, corporations and foundations;
  • High degree of professionalism when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience with development and implementation of fundraising strategies;
  • Independent self-starter capable of managing and prioritizing multiple, time-sensitive projects and priorities;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presenter to both groups and individuals;
  • Effective planning and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and organizational skills within a team environment to achieve results, while maintaining and building effective internal and external relationships;
  • Proficiency with online tools, such as, Microsoft Suite and desktop publishing tools.
