The Positions…

We are looking for several Support Worker Assistants over the summer who will receive hands-on experience, training, and supervision in working with hard-to-serve/special needs/dually diagnosed youth and adults from high needs communities. These positions will be in Residential or Day/School Settings and may be required to work on a rotation basis including day and evening shifts from 8:00am-4:00pm or 3:00pm-11:00pm.

This is an exciting opportunity that includes working with the staff team in planning group activities, ensuring that all supplies are available, accessing community resources, working with Centre/interagency staff in managing group dynamics, assisting workers to teach social, life, learning and job readiness skills, assessing participants’ progress, and writing individual reports at the end of the program.

The estimated start date for these positions, dependent upon funding, is on June 10, 2019. You may be working approximately 35-40 hours per week for about 10 weeks and the locations are within Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, and/or Richmond Hill.

These summer positions will be paid at a rate of $14.50 per hour.

Your Qualifications…

Experience in working with individuals with complex mental health needs;

  • Between 15 & 30 years of age at the start of employment;
  • Able to communicate effectively with a range of professional and non-professional individuals;
  • Flexible and resourceful, self-starters with the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Sensitive to various ethno-racial cultures and backgrounds;
  • Fluency in French or a second language is advantageous.
