The primary function of the Membership Retention & Recruitment Coordinator is to manage the retention, recruitment and member growth of registered nurses, nurse practitioners and nursing students through strategic marketing and by providing expertise in data analysis and digital marketing to create campaigns to engage members and non-members of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.  

This role is under a Collective Agreement, at a Level 8, with a starting salary of $66,196 and at the 4th anniversary the salary will be $84,060.


  • Develop and execute marketing objectives for RNAO congruent with the associations mission, vision and ENDS.
  • Responsible for analyzing data and trend reports and providing direction for marketing campaigns.
  • Create marketing copy, videos and disseminate on social media
  • Initiate creative membership retention and recruitment (R&R) marketing campaigns under the direction of the Director. This includes, but is not limited to, extracting and analyzing data from the membership data base to inform R&R marketing strategies.
  • Develop project plans, set targets, implement activities and evaluate the results against established targets.
  • Evaluate by creating tracking reports from the membership database to measure and report performance and make recommendations for enhancements to marketing strategies and data quality.
  • Develop and deploy persuasive communication messages such as pre-recorded phone messages and emails.
  • Liaise with communications department to disseminate marketing and promotional collateral on relevant social media platforms.
  • Prepare, coordinate and deploy surveys, polls and/or focus groups followed by analysis, tracking, reporting and presentation of results.
  • Create and make presentations, in person and via electronic means to RNAO’s local and specialty groups as well as other groups to promote RNAO membership benefits and services.
  • Act as back up coordinator for the department’s coordinators.
  • Provide support to volunteer executives to assist them to successfully fulfill their roles in membership retention and recruitment.
  • Provide membership support to the Membership & Services department by being a front line service representative for all levels of enquiries from members and non-members
  • Participate in staffing at RNAO booth at various conferences or AGM to promote RNAO.
  • Maintain confidentiality of individual membership information.
  • Other duties as required by this position


  • Masters degree in Marketing and at least three to five year's related experience.
  • Expert knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with digital marketing and expert use of social media.
  • Outstanding writing and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong problem solving skills with good judgment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, MYSQL, WORKBENCH, etc) to extract and analyze data into useful decision support information.
  • Personable, service-oriented, with good telephone manner.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to engage with members, non-members and staff.
  • Dexterity required to operate a computer, telephone and other office equipment.


  • Ability to work independently and within the team, meeting deadlines with maximum accuracy.
  • Flexibility in hours of work as required and ability to work overtime as assigned by the Director.
  • Attention to detail and ability to respond in a timely manner to member requests and solve problems with unusual situations brought to the attention of the Director or CEO.
  • Concentration is required for short or long periods of time to conduct phone calls, prepare email replies or process accounting information.
  • Sight, touch and hearing are used to read, proofread, write, and to answer enquiries.
  • Travel within Ontario may be required.


  • Works in a climate-controlled office with some exposure to distractions, interruptions and stress from multiple demands.
  • Typical conditions are such that no risk or injury is present.
