Innovative Community Support Services (ICSS) is a non-profit charitable organization that is committed to creating and providing families & individuals with innovative, high quality and cost effective community based programs and services that promote a strong sense of well being while making a positive contribution to our culturally diversified community. 

ICSS is currently looking for Adult Community Participation Workers at our main Programming location in Orleans for multiple programs to provide individual and group recreational programming for the purpose of providing meaningful programs to people with a developmental disability and enabling them to attain their maximum physical, social, and mental well-being. This programming includes planning, implementing and evaluating recreation, social and educational programs.

Shifts consist of a rotation of Monday to Friday, mainly weekday 8 hour shifts, with occasional evenings and weekends.

Educational Requirements:

  • DSW, CYW, SSW or 2 years' experience in the field working with individuals with developmental delays and physical disabilities.
  • Must have First Aid/ CPR/CPI Training. 

Experience Requirements:

  • Must be willing to provide a high level of personal care to participants.
  • Experience working with individuals who have aggressive behaviours; ability to deal with behavioural situations.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Candidates must have proven track record in the areas of support provision and positive, professional relationships with community partners and families.
  • Ability to plan, organize and execute programs and outings for the residents.
  • Written communication skills to complete forms/reports.
  • Effective conflict resolution, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for problem solving and relationship building with internal and external participants, staff and parents.
  • Experience working in vocational, educational programs an asset.
  • Recreational and programming experience required.

Extra Skills Required:

  • Co-operation; requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured cooperative attitude.
  • Additional skills/expertise in a supplementary area such as cooking, painting, woodworking, crafting, etc.
