Transportation Coordinator, Community Support Services
Ottawa West Community Support (OWCS) is a charitable, non-profit organization with its roots originating in the West End Ottawa Christian Churches.  OWCS provides a wide variety of community support services to seniors and adults with physical disabilities with the goal of supporting them to live safely and independently in their own home.


Description of Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, CSS Programs and Operations, the Transportation Coordinator is an important member of the Community Support Team. The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of transportation services, maintenance and upkeep of scheduling records and client narratives, and for the accurate and timely communication with clients, office and field staff and drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with clients and caregivers regarding Transportation and other CSS services
  • Complete intake process for all inquiries for Community Support Services, record information from referral source and provide follow-up
  • Maintains client records within OWCS database
  • Matches clients with driver; Organizes the daily schedule for transportation volunteers and van operators
  • Develops monthly Aging in Place outing calendar
  • Work with other staff and volunteers to provide effective community support services 
  • Maintain accurate records on clients and volunteers
  • Ensures all vehicle maintenance and required permits are kept up to date
  • Ensures all vehicle logs are maintained
  • Maintain a neat, safe and pleasant environment for the program’s efficient and effective operation
  • Provides back up support to other Community Support programs as required

Qualifications

  • College diploma or University degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Health, Social Work)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fast-paced office/health care setting environment, with proven experience handling heavy phone volume.
  • Excellent customer service with a positive, enthusiastic attitude, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage electronic client and field employee schedules and data files
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience working with seniors and adults with physical disabilities
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a wider community support team
  • Ability to work in both official languages
