Position Details:

Start Date: February 1, 2019 or as soon as possible.

Term: 7-Month Maternity Leave Term, with possibility of extension.

Commitment: Part-time, 3-day/21-hours per week.

The Learning Disabilities Society of Greater Vancouver (formerly Learning Disabilities Association of Vancouver) is a registered non-profit society and was founded in 1970 to help support children with learning difficulties. Our mission is to provide community-based programs, and promote early identification and remediation of children with learning disabilities. Our programs and services operate from our offices in East Vancouver, North Vancouver and 7 Satellite Schools. LDSGV provides sustainable, educational opportunities & programs to help children with learning disabilities realize their potential and achieve life-long confidence and success.

Purpose of Position:

The Interim Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the ongoing day to day operations and strategic management of the Learning Disabilities Society of Greater Vancouver.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing the 2019 Strategic Plan in alignment with the organization’s vision, mission and mandate.
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors and its committees on the delivery and development of LDSGV programs.
  • Managing the 2019 budget and monthly finances with support from LDAGS Bookkeeper and Treasurer.
  • Maintaining productive relationships and strategic alliances with community partners, associations, funders and business organizations to continue to build awareness and support for the organization.
  • Oversight and support of all staff, instructors, program development and facility management for both East Vancouver and North Vancouver locations.
  • General day to day operations. Tasks may vary.

Requirements:

The position requires post-secondary education in Non-Profit Management, Education or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience in the operation of a non-profit organization is required.

The position requires knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Business and financial forecasting
  • Staff and Contract management
  • Financial management and budget processes
  • BC Ministry of Education - Special Education Policies and Procedures Manual
