Turning Point Youth Services is a multi-faceted and dynamic Agency committed to responding pro-actively and individually to the life challenges facing each of our clients. We are actively seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our Clinical and Counselling team. This individual will work in areas such as Community Counselling, Youth Justice Counselling, and Family Counselling. This position includes providing clinical support to youth within a youth justice open custody/detention home, as well as counselling to community-based youth and families.


  • Promote a safe and therapeutic environment and establish therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Incorporate into your work a trauma-informed, strengths-based relationship-based philosophy of care and a belief in the resilience of youth.
  • Provide a superior quality of individual and family therapy and group counselling.
  • Complete criminogenic risk needs assessments and mental health assessments if applicable.
  • Provide clinical consultation and support to enhance service delivery for community clients and/or in our open custody/detention program.
  • Provide input into the development of case management plans and treatment plans for youth.
  • Ensure that client records are maintained as per agency standards and in accordance with privacy policies and legislation.


  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counselling.
  • Registration and good standing with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and/or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 years (preferably post-graduate) working with adolescents.
  • Expertise in individual and family therapy, and group counselling, and demonstrated ability to effectively connect with youth, families and the community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk adolescents and young adults.
  • Demonstrated ability to work from and implement a strengths-based relationship-based approach.
  • Strong case management, administrative and organizational skills.
  • Experience working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification; completion of required crisis intervention training

This is a collective bargaining unit position within CUPE Local 3501B.
