Description

The Fields Centre for Quantitative Analysis and Modelling (Fields-CQAM) fosters academic-industry research addressing significant socio-economic challenges. Organized around 11 innovation labs spanning the Fields Principal Sponsoring Universities (PSUs), the Fields-CQAM model uniquely provides a training platform for the next generation of innovators while leveraging the Fields infrastructure for impactful networking and commercialization activities.

We are seeking to fill the position of Team Leader for Fields-CQAM. Reporting to the Fields-CQAM Director, the Fields-CQAM Team Leader is the senior administrator for the Centre, charged with ensuring the smooth operation of all administrative aspects. Specifically, the Team Leader oversees a three-person team and works closely with Fields staff to ensure effective day-to-day operations of Fields-CQAM. This includes, but is not limited to:

Governance: Act as the main contact to the Fields-CQAM Innovation Review Committee that is responsible for making recommendations to the Fields Board on all scientific matters.

Liaison with Fields: Work closely with the Fields-CQAM Director to liaise with Fields Board, the Fields Director, and key Fields staff. Attend senior staff meetings at Fields.

Human Resources: Manage and supervise all Fields-CQAM staff including managing all HR policies, 

Project Management: Ensure strong two-way communication with Fields-CQAM scientific leadership in the Fields-CQAM labs, foster ongoing strategic activities and initiatives, ensure good internal project management across labs and ensure collection of board mandated key performance indicators.

Partnership Development: Initiate, cultivate, and leverage strategic partnerships for Fields-CQAM with industry, not-for-profits, institutes, universities, and others.

Budget Management: Maintain strategic oversight of the Fields-CQAM budget including making expenditure recommendations to the Fields-CQAM Director. 

This position requires:

  • A university degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an academic or other research environments
  • Experience in project management, budgeting, and reporting
  • Strong communications and human resources skills and other relevant skills
