We are dedicated to supporting people with physical and developmental disabilities to have rich and full lives in community and have control over their lives.

NABORS is a community of people living with a disability in Toronto and our circles of support.  Our circles of support are made up of our friends and families who freely give their time to assist us to make informed decisions, act on choices, manage our paid supports and feel safe.  Members are supported to live in the homes of our choice and be fully included in the community. 

NABORS is seeking Part Time Community Support Workers with experience supporting peole with ASD who will assist a woman living with ASD in her home and in being involved in her community.  Current shifts available are on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  The Community Support Worker provides support by:

  • Ensuring safety
  • Assisting in relationship building by the development of and support to natural relationships within the member’s family, friends, and community
  • Assisting with the finding of, and participation in, valued roles for the member within her community
  • Assisting the supported member in pursuing her goals with the assistance of the support circle and family
  • Support the woman in becoming involved in her local community, including exploring options around meaningful volunteer work and community activities
  • Supporting the woman to develop a predictable routine
  • Supporting the woman during times of stress using verbal de-escalation skills.
  • Supporting the woman in the areas of personal care, meal preparation and care of her house

A member who is currently hiring resides in south Etobicoke and is specifically looking for someone to support her on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  Additional hours may also be available.


  • 5 years experience supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • energetic, enthusiastic support approach
  • experience with verbal de-escalation skills during times of stress 
  • good sense of humour
  • good initiative and ability to work independently
  • patience, understanding and flexibility 
  • understanding of the South Asian culture and Halal diet is preferred
  • access to a car is an asset 

The hiring is conditional upon clearing a Vulnerable Sector Police check.  Emergency First Aid & CPR will be required.
