Part-time, temporary (4 to 8 hours/week), days/evenings/week-ends

Responsibilities include:

Facilitate & coordinate Partner Assault Response (PAR) group programs for partner abuse response

Support the clients in overcoming barriers to resuming respectful relationships

Facilitate workshops, ensuring objectives are achieved

Assist group members to articulate their goals & monitor their progress

Manage the development of group dynamics & ensure the program is participative & interactive

Manage group member behaviour, redirect members to counsellor or refer to more appropriate groups

Ensure confidentiality of client names & circumstances, & emphasize the importance of ‘group confidentiality’ with group members

Meet all service delivery standards

Implement suggested changes from the Advisory Committee to the program

Contact appropriate authorities when conflicting / problematic situations arise

Take attendance for each session, enter & monitor data daily/weekly

Follow agency policies & procedures including confidentiality & privacy standards

Perform clean-up & closure of room & office as required

Contact absent participants to encourage return to the program or identify the reasons for the absence

Collect group statistics for Program Manager

Participate in team meetings & provide input & ideas for improving services

Contribute to team assignments & projects

Share in handling workload for positive results

Maintain the strictest confidence for all matters related to work in the Agency in accordance with relevant agency policy & practice

Monitor requirements & upgrade knowledge & skills for client service

Perform other relevant duties as assigned

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Masters Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Masters of Social Work, Psychology, etc.)

Current membership in good standing in a recognized accrediting body

Minimum of 3-5 years paid work experience in providing counselling to individuals, couples & families

Proven ability to facilitate adult learning sessions (will be co-facilitating an evening &/or week-end group for individuals who have been charged for partner violence)

Experience in working with clients who have abusive behaviours

Competence in brief therapy, family & couples counselling, cognitive counselling approaches & group facilitation

Training in cognitive/behavioural approaches, addiction & mental health issues & approaches are desired

Strong communication skills & understanding of various learning styles & how to meet those needs

Experience engaging & working with the various diverse communities

Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

Ability to work days/evenings/week-ends

Excellent oral & written command of the English language

Ability to work in various locations throughout the Peel, if required

Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint & Excel

Additional language(s) an asset

A valid Ontario Drivers Licence & a vehicle is an asset

Demonstrated efforts to continuously update skills
