Reporting to: Director of Finance, Business Innovation & Development

Sinai Health System has a wide range of businesses and commercial initiatives within its Business Innovation & Development (BI&D) portfolio. These ventures generate much needed revenue to support Hospital programs, capital investments and equipment upgrades so that we can continue to provide the best in patient care. These revenue-generating activities include retail operations, parking, a fertility centre, a commercial lab/CRO, rehab services, and an ecommerce shop, among many others.

The Business Innovation & Development department (BI&D) is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Administrator to join its team. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, Business Innovation & Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall financial operations of Mount Sinai Fertility, one of the larger businesses within the BI&D portfolio. The candidate will be responsible for financial forecasting, budgeting, strategy and analysis, internal controls & compliance, accurate financial reporting, AR and AP, and continuous improvement initiatives in all responsible areas. The position offers the opportunity for career progression within the larger BI&D group of businesses.

We are seeking an exceptional person preferably with experience in a health-care environment who shares our vision for an integrated system of connected care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Month-end accounting processes and financial reporting
  • Management reporting, discussion & analysis
  • Financial statements preparation
  • Preparation of year-end documents and related tax filings
  • Compliance with all statutory reporting requirements and legislation
  • Cash management
  • Oversight of the annual budgeting process for one of more businesses in the BI&D portfolio
  • Acting as a key point of contact for auditors, banks, CRA
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure financial systems and processes are in place to meet the needs of the
  • business and is effectively structured for the future
  • Internal controls and ongoing process improvement
  • AP & AR responsibilities

Job Requirements:

  • A Canadian CPA designation (or in progress towards completing CPA)
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a managerial or supervisory finance and accounting role
  • Hands-on, solutions-oriented approach
  • Strong knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting financial analysis and forecasting for existing and
  • new businesses
  • Advanced command of Excel and QuickBooks
  • Experience in corporate income tax preferred
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, presentation, communication and written skills
  • Superior judgment, problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, problem solve and prioritize
  • Highly motivated, innovative and proactive
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail with an ability to maintain accuracy within a fast-paced environment amid tight deadlines.
  • Ability to look at the ‘big picture’.
