Mandatory Requirements

  • Completion of a Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Social Work with emphasis in Intersectional Feminist, anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Framework
  • Previous work experience in social work or related field
  • 3 – 5 years of group and individual counselling or crisis support work in a related field
  • Understands the impact of domestic violence on women and their children
  • Aware of the systemic barriers that hinders women’s
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Facilitates conflicts with proven diligences to resolution that works in the best interest of the parties involved
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Highly demonstrated knowledge of Trauma informed practices; harm reduction and Anti Oppression Framework
  • Possess a wealth of knowledge of community agency organization to support women’s action plans
  • Applies strict confidentiality of all agency information


  • Support women and children to adjust to Centre’s routines and guidelines
  • Deliver case management support and crisis interventions to women and their children
  • Conducts intake interviews and assessment over the phone to admission
  • Provides woman and children with relevant information, education, counseling, and support
  • Develops case plans in conjunction with the client and other staff
  • Experience in group facilitation
  • Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity
  • Able to analyze complex situations and provide quality solutions
  • Works well independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Willingness to work shift work/flexible hours
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a changing environment
  • Must be able to remain impartial and non-judgmental while executing your work
  • Supports women’s goals, choices and options and provide guidance as necessary
  • Provide tele-counselling to women who are in crisis
  • Organizes regular meetings with residents, individually or in groups, to discuss communal living and other concerns or feedbacks or updates
  • Deals effectively with emergencies and safety concerns, and apply first aid \ CPR requirements as needed


  • Assumes responsibility for the Centre and its’ residents in the absence of other staff and Team Lead
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computer software
  • High accuracy of data and file management
  • Maintains accurate, appropriate records for clients and household needs
  • Completes all household and shift duties as assigned
  • Ensure discharges are completed on overnights and weekend shifts
  • Ensures the residential areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety
  • Ensures that residents participate in residence maintenance
  • Ensures residential bedrooms are cleaned and ready upon intake and discharge
  • Assigns rooms to new clients, and provides for immediate needs
  • Ensures that DRHP operates in a safe, effective, and respectful way for residents and volunteers
  • Notifies Building Manager of maintenance or repairs and safety issues for building, appliances, and all other equipment and facilities pertinent to DRHP and agency operations
  • Ensures proper disposal of garbage & recycling, as well as maintenance work & household management tasks

  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Attend staff and team meetings, committees, training, and workshops as scheduled of work
  • Communicates program concerns directly to Team Lead
  • Perform 1 room check during your shift
  • Partakes in staff and team meetings, committees, training, and other aspects of work environment
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of agency programs, and liaises effectively with these programs
  • Follows all DRHP residential house policies and procedures


  • Uses appropriate judgment in difficult or emergency situations, and good use of the on-call management system
  • Actively participates in regular supervision sessions with Team Lead
  • Communicates concerns, issues, and problems affecting job performance and program quality to the Team Lead
  • Deals effectively with job related stress, including accessing need for time off and/or professional development
  • Assists with orienting and training new staff, volunteers, students, and contract workers
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Program Director and Team Lead

Health and Safety

  • Works in compliance with the OHSA & applies all health & safety policy & procedures
  • Takes reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone who may be at risk
  • Identifies and corrects issues that can be addressed immediately
  • Cooperates with the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and assists inspectors in carrying out their duties
  • Elects JHSC representatives
  • Participates in hazard analysis
  • Reports to Building Manager anything that is likely to be unsafe or hazardous to health & safety of staff or anyone else, and any contravention of the Act or Regulations
  • Reports every accident, injury, illness, or other occurrence arising in the course of, or in connection with work, that has caused injury to staff or another person
  • Participates in health and safety orientation, education, and training

Note: An up to date First Aid\CPR and police reference check are required prior to the start of employment.
The shift schedule runs from Sunday through Saturday which includes days, evenings, overnight shifts and statutory holidays.
