The Opportunity

Yellow Brick House is looking for a professional, creative and well-organized Resource Development Specialist to join our evolving team. 

About Yellow Brick House

Yellow Brick House provides life-saving services and prevention programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals, families and communities impacted by violence.

Our four core services are 2 emergency shelters with 51 beds and cribs, the 24 hour crisis and support line monitored every day of the year, the community counselling and support services and the public education programs.  Last year, Yellow Brick House provided life-saving support to over 5,300 women and children. Join the Movement and Break the Silence as together we can end violence against women and children.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and execute our two Signature Events of the year using a detailed critical path;
  • Develop event budgets, tracking systems, marketing communication, document event related revenues & expenses, provide attendee updates as required by critical path;
  • Prospect, secure and appropriately recognize donations, sponsorships and community involvement involving Yellow Brick House’s campaigns and events;
  • Accountability for 3rd party fundraising and community events:
  • Specific KPI’s will be assigned for both fundraising targets and community events;
  • Develop existing donor relationships as well as cultivate, build and maintain new potential funders including multi-year commitments from individuals and the corporate sector;
  • Lead the social media, traditional mailing and email communication team; 
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Extraordinary time management skills with ability to keep multiple tasks on budget and on the critical path timeline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the passion to use these skills to create action leading to a positive impact
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A track record of exceeding personal and professional goals
  • Minimum 4 years experience in resource development, fundraising and community engagement
  • Organizational skills: understanding workflow and attention to detail
  • Experience with WordPress and/or other website software
  • Proven success using online donor tools like Raisin, Donor Perfect and Constant Contact
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop

 Additional Information

  • A Vulnerable Sector Screening is required
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events
