Autism Speaks Canada is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families by supporting and working with community partners; enhancing resources and services; increasing understanding, acceptance and inclusion of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.

Basic Function:

Autism Speaks Canada seeks a Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and execute a comprehensive and integrated marketing and communications strategy that meets the strategic objectives of Autism Speaks Canada. This position will be responsible for managing all marketing efforts including advertising campaigns, internal and external communications, marketing assets and messaging, public relations and digital channels in support of the entire organization.  This position will also monitor and measure KPIs for all campaigns and strategize to maximize results. 

This position will report directly into the Executive Director and will work closely with operations, fundraising and programming teams.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a multi-year marketing and communications strategies including budget and timelines.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of marketing and communications vehicles and audiences.
  • Ensure that messaging, campaigns are aligned within the organizational goals.
  • Work with partners on campaign development
  • Responsible for ASC brand alignment
  • Responsible for digital media engagement, planning and implementation
  • Create new opportunities to increase ASC visibility across all media channels.
  • Oversee the utilization and evaluation of new and existing digital technologies
  • Implement and maintain the ASC’s crisis communications plan.
  • Utilize data analytics to make strategic and data-driven decisions.
  • Responsible for marketing staff performance and development goals, establish staff priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals.

Required skills/experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing comprehensive strategic marketing and communications, media relations, and marketing programs to advance an organization's mission and goals.
  • Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing and communications specialists.
  • Extensive experience with market research, monetization strategies, creation, media planning, production and multichannel distribution
  • Excellent ability to work collaboratively both internally and externally
  • Strong project management experience
  • Degree in Marketing or relevant field
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Hands on experience with MS Office and WordPress, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (CS6)
  • Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing
  • Understanding of content marketing tactics, digital advertising and social media marketing and web traffic metrics
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge is an asset
