School Age –FDK RECE Staff – Before and after school position (5.5 hrs per day on school days)

This position also includes working full time days on PA Days, March Break, Winter Break and Summer Day Camp (7 hours)

Salary: $18.46- $22.46 + benefits

Start Date: Flexible


♦ Experience or placement in an Early Childhood Education program working in an integrated setting.

♦ Experience or placement working with families in a diverse setting.

Qualification for this position requires:

  • Graduate of an Early Childhood Education program at an institution recognized by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and registered with the College of ECE
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear Police Reference Check that includes Mental Health Screening
  • Knowledge of Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Experience with School Age children – FDK experience is an asset
  • Health Assessment
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act
  • Knowledge of ELECT programming and Documentation
  • Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen
  • Ability to work independently and with other team members
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a shared space environment with other Professionals

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Communicating issues to parents in a positive, professional and respectful manner.
  • Participates in meetings with parents and other professionals to ensure child’s and families needs are met
  • Participates in discussions with outside agencies to ensure the most appropriate individual program plan is developed for the child
  • Completing appropriate documentation and reports for each child including files of development progress and samples of work
  • Keeping accurate records: daily attendance, daily activity plans, reasons for absences
  • Attends regular staff meetings and participates by contributing information, presenting to others, asking questions for clarify information
  • Helps parents to understand the program by providing verbally or written communication
  • Communicating openly and honestly
  • Listens actively and asks questions
  • Open to suggestions and criticism
  • Assisting with monthly newsletter by providing input regarding activities from the classroom
  • Participating in professional development through continuing education courses, workshops and local conferences, discussions, readings etc..... The Centre is committed to supporting these opportunities through the stated salary and compensation policies
