Corporate & Community Partnerships Coordinator

The Mississauga Food Bank’s (TMFB) vision is a Mississauga where no one goes hungry. We relieve hunger in Mississauga by providing and promoting access to healthy food for people in need.

Job Purpose:

  • Achieve revenue and food-raising targets from 500+ workplace and community food drives and fundraising events, with a focus on funds
  • Identify event organizers that have the potential to increase their giving to greater levels and/or philanthropic or sponsorship support
  • Raise TMFB’s profile in the community as a “charity of choice” for community events 
  • Plan and coordinate TMFB events including the annual Supporter Appreciation Party and Holiday Open House

 

Responsibilities

Food Drives and Fundraising Events (60%) 

  • As a part of the Corporate & Community Partnerships annual plan, identify and manage lists of potential and previous event organizers to solicit to organize food drives or fundraisers in support of TMFB
  • Build and execute a communications plan including face-to-face meetings, bulk and personal emails, and phone follow-ups with the purpose to cultivate and solicit previous and prospective workplace and community event organizers 
    • Work with the Marketing team to develop tools and collateral as needed
  • Coordinate food drive and fundraiser registration, logistics, and stewardship
    • Answer questions from organizers, ensuring they follow the correct process to register their food drive/fundraiser
    • Once registered, provide supplies to organizers, record details in our database, liaise with the warehouse team to book trucking, ensure the donation is received, and the thank you is issued
  • Provide support to ensure a positive donor experience, event success, and repeating/growing event in future years
    • Convert ‘food only’ donors to raise funds. 
    • Where only food is possible, increase healthy/most needed food items raised by communicating TMFB’s needs to organizers
  • Develop and execute a school strategy to engage students in fundraising
  • Identify local community events occurring across Mississauga and pitch TMFB as the charity of choice
    • Work with the marketing and volunteer departments to promote the events and provide volunteer support as needed
  • Build reports that accurately reflect activity and progress towards achieving goals

 

Donor Cultivation and Engagement (20%)

  • Identify food drive and fundraising event organizers who display interest in developing a deeper relationship with TMFB and have the potential for further philanthropic or sponsorship support
    • Connect them to the Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager for further cultivation and solicitation
  • Track all event organizers that qualify for volunteer shifts and work with the Volunteer Coordinator to register and schedule their shift; host groups as needed to build relationships while at TMFB
  • Speak and present on behalf of TMFB at community events and cheque presentations, inviting the Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager, Director of Development, or Executive Director to attend when appropriate 

 

Event Planning (10%)

  • Oversee TMFB’s events including the annual Supporter Appreciation Party and Holiday Open House. Work with the Development team to identify guest list and send invitations, and take the lead on all event logistics (food, decor, rentals, programme, etc.). Deploy staff as needed. 

 

Other (10%)

  • Participate and provide assistance in activities, initiatives, and special projects as requested

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of professional fundraising experience. Experience supporting third-party events is preferred.
  • College diploma or university degree in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience with customer management systems (preferably Raiser’s Edge) or other moves-management systems
  • Demonstrated successful relationship-building experience

  • Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

 

Relationships:

This position reports to the Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager and is a member of the Development team. Internally, this position works closely with the Warehouse team to support event logistics. Externally, this position works closely with event organizers.

Position Type:

Permanent, full-time position. Some evening and weekend work required, especially during the busy Thanksgiving/Holiday season. Lieu time can be accrued for evening/weekend hours worked. On-call by phone/email/text for event issues that may arise during off-hours. 

Compensation

$42,000-$47,000 plus funding for professional development, paid mobile phone, comprehensive benefits plan, and matched group RRSP (after 3 months’ employment)
