Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Sound Technician will provide leadership & direction of service as well as event related needs in sound, video and media, at Holland Christian Homes (HCH)

Specific responsibilities include:

Technical Coordination

  • Provide supervision/direction to the volunteers of the HRTIN (Holland Radio and Television In-House Network)
  • Provide oversight to sound, lighting, video reproduction, and projection systems for all services and events.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment in dialogue with the Director, Finance and Administration and the HRTIN committee
  • Coordinate all technical logistics for services and events (i.e. concerts, church services, rentals etc.)
  • Coordinate video recording and transmission of the services each Sunday and other events as required by training and building a volunteer team

Training

  • Provide regular, ongoing training in sound system and media operation to volunteers, and coordinate the training process and schedule.
  • Recruit and train new sound and media operators.

HRTIN Administration

  • Schedule sound, media operators and camera techs for all services and events that are part of the HCH Calendar in conjunction with the Director of Tenant Activities
  • Complete and maintain documentation of equipment and procedures for sound and media technicians

Other Duties 

  • Facilitate the installation of television digital remote boxes for the tenants and residents of HCH as required.
  • Facilitate the installation and repair of internet routers for the tenants and residents of HCH as required.
  • Provide support for residents, staff and tenants with computer troubleshooting as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma from a sound engineering program or in related field is an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with sound, lighting and media technology; and preferably also in video capture, video editing and reproduction
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge operating and setting up sound, lighting, and projection equipment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Superior organization, time management and planning skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Must possess strong communication (oral and written), problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to relate to and integrate a Christian perspective in leadership
  • Ability to understand and speak the Dutch language is an asset
  • Willingness to work flexible hours such as evenings and weekends and Sundays as programs/events require
  • Clear TB, Annual Flu immunization (unless medically exempt)
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)
